Are girls as engaged with The World Cup as boys?

I was just wondering if as many girls in the classroom were engaging with The World Cup as some of the boys do. Before I do 'football themed' lesson plans I just wondered will this turn off as many students as it might engage? By the way I do realise not all boys like football before people point it out.

My Daughters school gave each child a team from a lucky dip, she got Iceland and got really excited about her homework.

On a normal day she doesn't care too much about football.

Apparently her whole class loved it
